Historical Rating Methodology

Preface

The Historical Rating Methodology is designated in purpose to represent the standard of historical rating method as the necessity to solve the complexity and irregularities of football history within its evolution. The methodological criteria is reproduced from the actual football historical value model analysis and has been set in both qualitative and quantitative amount which is hierarchically arranged by a systematic criteria and condition in accordance with the varied circumstantial parameters. However, the existence of the subjectivity of raw rating data as a main input to evaluating system is undeniable due to unavailability of primary evidences in some phases of football history and necessary to depend on surmise from related factors within secondary evidences in the cases. By this context, the result of implementation can confirm historical position of players in the middle scale.

Rating Methodological Structure

The Rating Methodology is constituted of three major function Evidence-Measurement-System.

Evidence : The football history evidence of video, media rating, record and archives have been discovered by many football historians and experts. I have a role to both investigate and comply the referenced evidences which is involved to my rating. However, the paper evidences is always reviewed by me about its source and reliability.

Measurement : Football is potentially measurable but it is immeasurable practically in the present as long as scientific instrument has not been applied for player rating in the match. Physical ability is supposed to be measurable while technical ability is also physically constituted with figure characteristic of feet, balance between body parts, flexibility of tendon and touching angle between feet and the ball. As football sports is aim to entertain and to win the trophy not attempt to experimentally determine who is the provable best, we are just best at having our eyes as instrument which is inevitably inaccurate by inconsistent parameters and circumstances.

System : As long as football is a definitive physical science, the system of rating is permitted to support the football history rating works. I set the proportional criteria and calculation method to set standard level of competition and to rate players and teams in both skills and performances with varied parameters.

Football Historical Rating Concept
Rating is primarily based on the systematic criteria and also take the minor importance in term of historical value under specific circumstantial condition impact to the game. The Evaluation of individual or team skill and performance base on standard of competition and era from retrospective watching football video of previous eras with investigation for reference of evidences of rating, award and other involved statistical data and apply into the assessment criteria system for ranking setting up or selection. It is generally supposed to be impossible to create the work to reach the level of corrective assessment as long as the evidences is not always existed or completed and the visual measurement is a high possibility of error. Accordingly, it is essential to depend on other factoring supporting details and applying probability principal to conclude the evaluation as hypothetical approximation. Accordingly, the true value of this football historical work is not determined based on ranking or selection result but the appreciation of historical background and evolution.

Verification of Rating Evidence

As the rating or voting result is based on personal preference in criteria and condition, it is required to verify for biased, variant and reliability by statistical analysis and mutual comparison between group of sources.

1)  Media Rating : The rating value could be varied for players in different position and rating points between periods might be inconsistent. The sampling group of top rating will be taken into account in statistical analysis by median and standard deviation.

2)   Awards by Voting :  The group of voters will be checked for their nationality and football background and analysis to conclude influential factors from tending of voting data.

3) Historical Succeed Regard :  It is considered as the weakest reliability of source due to cultural influence. Hence, it is just a primary source to create basic assumption.

Football Rating Method

1. Player Series
Definition of Historical Rating of Footballers
Determination of accumulative performance in the top states (above national level) in overall career based on era standard and circumstance including legend status by impact level in history of football.

1.1 Performance Profile Characteristics

Each performance type is calculated in equal proportion between seasons without partitioned coefficient rank.

1) Peak Performance is considered as the best seasonal year of each player in all competition levels without proportional criteria for each competition. However, players who performed in the peak in higher standard of competition is still advantageous.

2) Prime Performance is considered as the range of span of upper part of players' career performance profile.

3) Sustainable Performance is considered base on longevity and consistency of footballers' entire career.

1.2 Varied Performance Parameters

Major Parameters

Physical Condition

- Standard of Competition
- The Tactics : The formation will set frequency of participation in each functional duty.
- The Role of Playing : It should be conformed to players' outstanding skill
- Teamwork Ability of Teammates : Ball possession and effectiveness of teammates shall help player to have more opportunities in participation.
- Level of Teammates Ability : If high, Players would have more opportunity to get deeper round of competition.
If low, Players would have more influence the team in positive way.

Minor Parameters

- Weather   - Quality of The Field    - The Weight of Ball    - Referee

1.3. Individual Performance Match Rating

Due to the fact that player's performance in a match is depend on team's ball possession and the situation during the game. Rating will be considered case by case base on difficulty, participating and effective level of playing in main functional items as below ;

Goalkeeper
Defensive Player
Offensive Player
Open the Game                       Defensive Commanding
Save the Passing Ball
Reflex Save
Cut the Passing Ball
Stop/Win the Ball
Passing/Crossing
Ball Controlling

Creativity
Passing/Crossing
Ball Controlling
Positional Play
Scoring

Remark* This topic is only used for important matches in football history as it is impossible to watch every games of every player/legend.

1.4 Individual Performance Classification

1) Domestic League

Total Average Rating = ( Match Rating)/Total Match Played

Amount of Performance : Domestic League Season is calculated from ratio between games played and total seasonal games. The performance is considered and will be updated in every half of season. In general case, 85 (more than 40 games) - 90 % (30 Games) participation is considered as 100 % amount and proportional calculation is required in less participation. Exceptional case : if any league game is available equal to or less than 30 games, it will be calculated base on ratio between games played and 30.

2) Elimination/Multi-Stage Competition

The Maximum Eliminated Amount Coefficient Table

Total Average Rating = ∑ (Coefficient x Match Rating)/∑ Coefficient)

Amount of Performance : Major Tournament performance is calculated from ∑ Coefficient/ Total Coefficient

* The group format of any stage of competition (in exception of first group stage with at least 16 team participation) is calculated amount based on finished place.

* The coefficient of amount can be redefined in lower standard of competition in case by case.

3) International League Tournament

The Maximum Placed Amount Coefficient Table

Total Average Rating = ∑ Match Rating x Place Coefficient)/2)

Amount of Performance : Major Tournament performance is calculated from Place Coefficient/2

* The coefficient of amount can be redefined in lower standard of competition in case by case.

*Remark : * International Qualifying League Competition is not applied descending coefficient.
International Qualifying Knock-Out Competition is calculated in actual qualified games divided by total games.

Minute of Playing Amount

For Clause 1 - 3, performance amount is approximately calculated based on actual minute of playing.
< 15 minute participation per game is annulled,
                =>15 - 60 is calculated by actual minute/90
45 - 60 can be counted as a full match if his team dominate the game and much led in score.
61 - 89 minute is counted as a full match

4) Rating Range Classification

6.5  – 7 : Ordinary International-Class
>7 – 7.5 : Supreme International-Class
>7.5 – 8 : Ordinary World-Class
>8 – 8.5 : Supreme World-Class
>8.5 : Phenomenon-Class

1.5 Proportional Criteria of International Level
The Competition criteria standard table is designed based on competition standard comparison in any era.

International Club Coefficient Table

*Pre-Classic/Classic Era = Basic Profession, Modern Era = UCL Profession

*In case of automatic qualification to deeper round (Copa Libertadores Cup case), the performance amount will be deducted 1/3 of total non-participated games in the tournament.
*Latin Cup is excluded in the rating for the years players also participated in European Cup.

International Country Primary Criteria Standard Table

* Minimum Requirement = 0.25 % of each proportional weight.
* The 1920s Olympic Games and the 1930 World Cup is calculated as 80 % amount.
The 1934, 1938 and 1950 World Cup is calculated as 90 % amount.
The 1920s Copa America is calculated as 90 % amount.
* The Sky Blue Competition is compulsorily required and will deduct the point in any disappearances.
The Green is compulsorily required in the existed opportunity and will deduct the point in any absence.
The Yellow is not compulsorily required in exception of Central European International Cup for CE nations.
* Amount of performance in qualifying round : 4 - 12 games : Calculated based on actual proportion.
  13 - 15 games : 90 % participation is regarded as 100 % amount
  > 15 games : 85 % participation is regarded as 100 % amount
*The Minor Tournament, Friendly Match and World Cup qualifying match of the 1930s and 1950 (less than 3 games in overall career) is calculated dependently without DAC method.
Criteria of Minor Tournament : 0.75 - per a game played
(Include 1948 and 1952 Olympic Games, Confederation Cup, Balkan Cup, British Home Championship, etc)
Olympic Games since 1956 is not included.
Primary Maximum Criteria of Friendly Match is 0.4 per a game played
Qualifying game is 1.5 per games played

* EU = Europe, SA = South America, EE = Eastern Europe, CE = Central Europe, REU = Rest of the Europe
Minor Tournament includes Central European International Club and FIFA Confederation Cup

Criteria Primary Adjustment : (Criteria Standard X Actual Partition Amount)/Total Partition Amount

However, if cumulative criteria is valued below 100 percent after calculation of adjustment, the surplus or deficit percent will be distributed to each competition based on the criteria ratio prior to distribution without limit at a given maximum value in the table.

As criteria is adjusted in case player did not participate or participate but not achieve the international class at elast in below standard number due to circumstantial limitation as following items and as below criteria adjustment table, this standard table shows proportional value which criteria adjustment is required to approach to closest proportional ratio.

1) Disqualification
2) Disappearance due to rotation policy (Copa America)
3) The team disqualified for the tournament
4) Injury
5) Ineligible due to country's rule
6) Player could not achieve international-class at least
7) The team did not enter to the tournament/qualifying round (since post-war era)
8) The competition was not held
9) The team did not enter to the qualifying round (30s)/Unavailable qualifying round as being automatically qualified as a previous winner or a host

In item 1 - 6, Lose Amount is 100 % for international country and 55 % for international club
In Item 7 - 8, Lose Amount is 50 % for international country and 27.5 % for international club
In Item 9, 100 % share amount. However, The absence of participation will also considered all opportunities of participation within age 20 - 32 years old.

*Total performance amount is calculated based on ratio between number of appearances and total available official international matches and divided by 0.6 to specify status of normality (>= 55 %) or abnormality (< 55 %)

* Full Disappearance of World Cup and Continental Cup will be lost 70 % of any partition.

International N-Value Adjustment Table

Obtain Value : The value is calculate based on the basic system with n-value of actual participation.
The Lose Ratio will be multiplied with the remainder of nonparticipating proportional amount which will be deducted from total point of 100 %.
The Sharing Ratio will be multiplied with the remainder of nonparticipating proportional amount and will distribute to other competition base on standard and importance of competition. Therefore, sharing level is depend on sharing amount of other competitions and in some case, nonparticipating amount is not shared and even receive sharing amount from other more levels of non-participation.

1.6 Descending Accumulative Calculation Method (DAC Method)

The method is to calculate to find the definitive quantitative performance of player in their entire career in the extent of higher than supreme-national class within is the interested group of data of top players in history without inclusion of below average classes of performance. The method is designed in purpose to set the weight between performing classes. The peak amount will be calculated based on higher coefficient and descend for the lower ranks of class. The performance amount is controlled by standard value. Thus, any surplus (in some area) or deficit will be conducted to the rating result.

Formulation

Domestic Season : ∑ (actual n) (Performance Part X Sequence Coefficient)*100

                                            ∑ n = 10 Sequence Coefficient

International Club :∑ (n <5,8) ( Performance Part X Competition Coefficient X Sequence Coefficient)*100

                                             ∑ n = 5,8 Sequence Coefficient

International Country Tournament : (∑ (actual n) (Performance Part X Sequence Coefficient)*100

                                                               ∑ n = 3,5 Sequence Coefficient

* n value in ∑ Sequence Coefficient is considered base on standard of participating frequency consists of frequency of competition held, ratio between qualifying teams per all teams in the competition and importance of tournament in term of rotation policy.

International Country N-Value Factor Standard Table

* In case of proportional criteria adjustment due to circumstantial limitation as the clause 1.5, n-value will be calculated as international n-value adjustment table.

Performance Part = The Partition of (Performance Class Rate X Amount Ratio)

The method is purpose to set fair proportional amount between peak and consistency based on designated coefficient. The Performance of player by a season/tournament will be ranked from the highest to the lowest to match and then it is partitioned as a full season/tournament equally and calculate the amount base on ratio for multiplying with sequence coefficient respectively

Note that performance is already rated base on level of competition standard.

Performance Class Coefficient Table

The performance class coefficient is not equal between different competition levels because of its difference of participating opportunity. The competition level with the given lower opportunity will be set in higher coefficient within the same performance class.

The Implemented Lowest Class in Each Series

World All-Time Greatest Footballers/Positional Hall of Fame (Domestic) :  Supreme-Inter-Class
International Legendary Museum/Positional Hall of Fame (International) : Ordinary-Inter-Class
Below International-Class : Abnormal Status

NT Optimization Technique

Based on the lowest class implementation, by some case, it will reduce total point of performance rating in case the amount of participation has reached critical value and rating in other area is higher than lowest class sufficiently. It is permitted to exclude the reducers.

*Remark : All Coefficients will be also calculated with functional coefficient

Goalkeeper  :  1st Negative (0.96)
Basic Defender : 2nd Negative (0.95 - 0.96)
Wing-Back :  1st Negative (0.96 - 0.97)
Classic Libero :  Equivalent (0.98 - 1)
Basic Destroyer :  2nd Negative (0.95)
Central Midfielder : Equivalent (1)
Offensive Lateral :  Equivalent (1)
Basic Offensive Midfielder :  Equivalent (1)
Trequartista : Equivalent (1)
Forward : Equivalent (1)
Finisher : Equivalent (1)
The class is rated base on standard of era in its circumstantial factor. That’s mean the same class between different era is incomparable across era directly.

*For Amount Ratio. refer to clause 1.4

*For the result of calculation of international level, players is set the minimum obtained point in favor of circumstantial prevention in a condition of highest performance of the rest two competition levels as provide ;

Phenomenon-class (Both)  : Minimum Point is not less than 75 (Int.Club), 72.5 (Int.Country)
Phenomenon-class and Supreme-World-Class : Minimum Point is not less than 72.5,(Int.Club), 70 (Int.Country)
Supreme-World-class (Both) : Minimum Point is not less than 70 (Int.Club), 67.5 (Int.Country)
Supreme-World-class and Ordinary World-Class : Minimum Point is not less than 67.5 (Int.Club),65 (Int.Country)
Ordinary-World-class (Both) : Minimum Point is not less than 65 (Int.Club), 62.5 (Int.Country)

For the players in the era of non-international club, the minimum obtained point for international country will be depend on domestic competition

Phenomenon-class   : Minimum Point is not less than 72.5 (Int.Club), 70 (Int.Country)
Supreme-World-class :  Minimum Point is not less than 70 (Int.Club), 67.5 (Int.Country)
Ordinary World-Class : Minimum Point is not less than 67.5 (Int.Club), 65 (Int.Country)

Geometric Sequence Coefficient

Sequence Coefficient is considered base on standard of participating frequency. In every rank of seasonal/tournament partition, Sequence Coefficient will be reduced based on % reduction which is inverse variation to participating opportune factor between competition levels and is also inverse variation to participating number of partition within the same competition level.
% Reduction is specified amount as below reduce from highest to lowest class season.

1) Domestic Season : (n : 1 - 10) :
25 % Reduction : 1st : 1, 2nd : 0.75, 3rd : 0.563,...,10th : 0.075
                                 (n > 10) : 50 % Reduction : 11th : 0.038, 12th 0.02, .....
2) International Club Tournament : % Reduction : Mitropa 60, Profession 40
N-Value : Mitropa Cup and Pre-1965 Copa Libertadores Cup (n=5)
Post-War European Club and Profession Post-1965 Copa Libertadores Cup (n =8)
3) International Country Tournament :  (n  = 3) : 70 % Reduction
                                                        (n > 3) : 5 % Reduction per one increment of n-value
N-Value : The 1940s and 1950s Copa America (n = 5), All Other Torunaments (n = 3)

*For the Copa America tournament since 1960 which n-value = 3, If the participation between tournaments is less than 4 years, it will be reduced in amount calculation by actual ratio as a standard of n-value.

Upper Limited Range of Total Performance

Upper Limit point is set to limit the maximum point of players' highest class amount in each competition level to conform with the limited potential of player. The best three seasonal partitions (Domestic) and best two tournament partitions (International) will be calculated base on DAC method to find the average of maximum point. Note that the coefficient of upper limit class is the same as international tournament coefficient as above. That means players could not given higher point than this amount regardless of how much amount of lower class performance players have collected.

1.7 Competition Level Criteria Standard and Adjustment

The criteria is divided into three period.

1) Amateur Era (1900s to 1920s)

2) Basic Professional Era (1930s to 1990s)
3) UCL Professional Era (2000s onwards)

WGF = World All-Time Greatest Footballers
PHF = Positional Hall of Fame
ILM = International Legendary Museum

*Domestic is primarily considered based on the league system. The league is taken the whole of domestic part if domestic cup was unavailable. With availability of domestic cup, the rating will be taken in overall domestic performance without proportional criteria between both competition and minimum criteria of domestic cup is also not set. Subsequently, the absence of domestic cup will not reduce amount of any of domestic season and within the same season, the participation in domestic cup can replenish the deficit of a league amount.

*In ILM series, the selection is based on the proportional criteria in the table in only case of equal possible international opportunity. That permitted the greater players with limitation of international opportunity such as unavailability of competition in any era, injury, etc, to be selected for the squad. For manager, it is also not applied this table as the international country competition is not a basic part for managerial career. This permitted the great managers who did not have any NT appearances to be selected as well.

International Proportion Adjustment

The adjustment is flexibly designated based on the difference of opportune and standard factor and it is limited in minimum and maximum value. The proportional value is controlled by participation value based on ratio between divisor and total partitioned value. Domestic competition is fixed based on its primary proportion while the international club and international country can be adjusted based on actual participation and then the value will be expanded from basic ratio equally to fill the maximum capacity.

International Proportional Optimization

It is not a compulsory to always use proportion based on actual participating divisor and allow to give more weight at maximum according to the standard table in case international performance is better than domestic performance. Between international club and country, it is also permitted to optimize by given the maximum weight for the better performance one.

1Proportional Basic Calculation

The proportion is based on amount of definitive participation.

1.1 International Club Proportion = Partitioned Divisor Value*Basic Proportion/Total Partitioned Value
1.2 International Country Proportion = ∑ Partitioned Divisor Value*Basic Proportion/Total Partitioned Value

For international country, the result = or > 90 % is applied to the maximum capacity according to the table.

In World All-Time Greatest Footballer, International Competition (Club + Country) is required at least 40 %
In PHF and ILM, International Club is minimum at 3.5, International Country is minimum at 10.

2..Proportional Whole Deficit & Deduction

2.1. International Club : For players who played in the whole/overlapped era of amateur/pre-international club profession or even lack of opportunity in the era of competition existence, the deficit of international participation is calculated based on total lose ratio x proportional weight (for lose ratio, refer to international n-value standard adjustment).

In the era of nonexistence of international club competition, the result of deficit amount will be considered based on the reality of opportune factor, will be reproduced the situation about the number of participation by his club's place in the league. 100 % assumed participation is deducted 1 point and will deduct 2 point at maximum for nonparticipation. The deduction is calculated by formula as provided ;

1- (Cumulative participating partition number/Total partition number)

1.8 International Minimum Point Control

The minimum point is set in purpose to create circumstance prevention for players who have too limitation in international competition participation. It is controlled by the mutual performance between a particular international competition another or other two competition. The table is used for only players who got a particular international point lower than the given minimum point based on mutual performance by competition level. For the international minimum point and increment point, Each of competition level performance is required a full 1 partition (Domestic and International Club) and requires 20 point of actual participating divisor to get the full given international minimum/increment point, if not, it will be calculated based on actual ratio based on proportional criteria. Then, the acquired increment point will be multiplied with performance point in the first partition for international club and in the non-sequence control competition for international country (Minor Tournament and/or Friendly match). The result will be plus with the actual acquired point and it is upper limited by the given minimum point.

3-Line International Minimum Point Table

2-Line International Minimum Point Table

1.9 Addition, Deduction and Exclusion of Performing Status

In case of player's remarkable superiority in special condition, they will be added bonus.
In case of player's notorious inferiority in special condition, they will be either deducted the point or excluded.

1) Additional Bonus of Legend Status

1.1 Greatness : Player who created historical value with exceptional influence to his team will be obtained bonus 1 – 3 points depend on level of historical impact.
1.2) Great Junior & Senior : Players who perform greatly in early and late career, will be given special bonus point as below table (SI : Supreme International-Class, OW : Ordinary World-Class, SW : Supreme World-Class). Note that the bonus is calculated based on competition level proportion and actual amount of participation.

     Age/Position
GK/DF
DM/CM
Attacker
< 20 Years old
OW 0.5 SW 0.75  P 1
OW 0.375 SW 0.625 P 0.875
OW 0.25 SW 0.5 P 0.75
32 - 34 Years old
OW 0.25 SW 0.5 P 0.75
OW 0.375 SW 0.625 P 0.875
OW 0.5 SW 0.75 P 1
> 34 Years old
SI 0.25 OW 0.5 SW 0.75
SI 0.375 OW 0.625  SW 0.875
SI  0.5 OW 0.75  SW 1

2) Deduction and Exclusion of Abnormal Status

The All-Time Individual Performance will be also deducted the point base on the amount of failure performance in the case player failed to sustain average standard in exception of injury and other approved reasons within specific period as below condition.

Domestic : Stipulate the best span of players in consecutive eight partition. Absence by Injury is excluded and irregular seasons will be calculated based on proportion of appearances. If any season of player is performed below international-class without trouble body condition, they’re marked as abnormal status and its amount will be ranked in the last partition with a deducted negative value in calculation system.

International : Any tournament players performed below specified lowest class in clause a.6, they’re marked as abnormal status and will not be taken to calculate in the system.

1.10 Rating of Total Skill and Total Ability

1) Proportional Criteria of Skills Requirement
Aside from method to measure collective performance of players, vision to rate player to set value of performance is very important. Degree of importance of each skill is depended on role. Skill of football is definite as potential and mentality in which is influenced by situation and circumstance, is a support factor to apply skill to be performance eventually. However, mindset is abstract and cannot be measured so this criteria is just for skill rating to set up level of player. Moreover, teamwork ability in offensive game is considered as subset of creativity skill while teamwork ability in defensive game is a subset of reading the game ability. Due to the fact that skill can be developed, the measurement of skill level is done in stable period of highest potential.
Remark* Due to the fact that skill rating criteria is set base on role, the value of skill rating in different positions cannot be compared correctly.
Goalkeeper
- Positioning 16 Percent
- Reflexes 17  Percent
- Reading The Game 27 Percent
- Agility : 14 Percent
- Jumping 10 Percent
- Handling 12 Percent
- Open the Game 4 Percent

Remark* In DF and CM list, Rapidity means combination set of speed and agility. Strong is a combination set of strength and stamina.
Credit Bond Rating is used in players' skill rating.

A+ : 4.00, A : 3.8, A- : 3.6, B+ : 3.4, B : 3.2, B- : 3.00, C+ : 2.8, C : 2.6, C- : 2.4, D+ : 2.2, D : 2.00, D- : 1.8

Primary Condition of judgement : number of superior skills which has proportion at least 10 percent of total skill.

2) Ability Rating For Footballers

Ability rating is used for compare players in different position in the greatest footballers ever list. It is a combination set of main football function are, Physical (25 Percent), Defensive (45 Percent for DF, 30 Percent for DM) and/or Offensive (30 Percent for DF, 45 Percent for CM, 75 Percent for AM, OL, FW, STK). Ability is the secondary potential of footballer by no application to football role but still apply major position of player for functional play ability (Defensive and Offensive). The proportion of each ability is considered as an equal importance except the aerial ability due to the fact that the game is participated by this ability in the minority part. Physical ability is consist of speed, agility, stamina and strength but it still not covers shot power as it is also depend on the area of touching between foot and the ball so it is included in offensive skill

The Completion of Footballer

The most completed player ever is considered in both all-round and cross-functional ability and versatility.
The most complete footballer by functional play is given criteria as below ;

3) Additional Bonus

3.1 Multi-Functional Ability  For defenders and midfielders possesses a high level of defensive and offensive quality. Bonus will be added to both skill and ability total points. For defender, Bonus is added base on the second best function of playing. For central midfielder, Bonus is calculated based on proportion between two functions of playing. The bonus point for the two position start at 65 as Zero state and the bonus point will be increased proportionally in ratio 10:1. The difference method to calculate bonus is caused by importance level of functional role.
3.2 Ambidextrous Ability : This is a bonus for only ability due to the fact that the secondary foot is not considered as an primary requirement in skill function. The Bonus point is between 0.2 - 0.4.

1.11 Conclusion and Classfication of All-Time Performance

Conditional Margin Value is an additional set of outermost factors in purpose to reduce variance in the basic calculation system from various circumstances.

Conditional Margin Value (WFHC) = HSP*(0.1)+LSP*(0.1)+(TAB or TSK)*(0.2)

Conditional Margin Value (PHF) = HSP*(0.15)+LSP*(0.15)+(TAB or TSK)*(0.2)
HSP = The Highest State Performance amount (HSP)
LSP = The Lowest State of Performance amount (LSP)
TAB = Total Ability (All-Time Best Footballers), TSK = Total Skill (Positional Hall of Fame),

The amount of performance will be based on average value of sampling group and one credit bond is counted as one amount. In WFHC, average grade of highest performance, lowest performance and total ability is A, B and A for top 100 best ever group. In PHF, average grade of highest performance, lowest performance and total skill is A, B and B. If more or less, will be positive or negative, respectively.

*The Highest and Lowest State Performance is determined within one partition.
*The Lowest State Performance is considered the worst season within the best eleven years of a player without injury period consideration (not essential to be continuous). If players' career is less than 11 years due to injury, the worst season will considered within available performance. However, if player absence in aforementioned periodic condition due to his unprofessional behavior, the lowest performance will be considered in average value in sampling group (B for top 50 Best Players Ever in example), .
Basic Total Score is calculated based on proportional criteria of competition level table.
Final Score = Basic Total Score + Conditional Margin Value

Rule of Decisive Factor

In case Total Score between ranks is resulted equally (not difference > 0.2),

The primary decisive factor is Peak Performance
The secondary decisive factor is Total Skill
The third decisive factor is Basic Score (is also required > 0.2 to make difference)
The fourth decisive factor is Lowest Performance
The fifth decisive factor is International Performance : It will be compared by sum of percentage based on the competition level proportional ratio divided by total acquired international proportion in case both of players participate in two international competition levels. In case one of them participated in only one competition level and another participate two, the one participant will beat the two participants if their score is more than both of the two. If the one has the score more than either of the two, the difference of margin between them will be compared ( International point of A - International point of B) by the same competition level and 0.5x(International point of A - International point of B) by different competition level. The more margin will beat the less margin.

Group Comparison : In case three players are mutually considered within total score <= 0.25 with different three aspects of judged factors (A, B and C) as following ; 1) A beat B  2) B beat C  3) C beat A by total score > 0.2 but <=0.25. The uppermost factor will be judged with respective order.

Final Classification

Players are classified by norm-reference credit bond rating.
Table of Historical Classification

1.12 Relationship Between Skill, Ability and Performance Rating
Primary Potential (Talent is one of its statuses) is applied and developed by experience into Skill and Ability. The two sets is the secondary potential being effected by circumstance in term of mentality and opportunity prior to transform status to performance. Skill is set level of importance base on the role while Ability is set base on the major functions only. Total Performance could be rated higher points than Total Skill and Total Ability for some players, the reason is supported by the idea of players' decision during the game to avoid their weak skill and apply their remarkable skills as much as possible. As a result, performance is much base on their remarkable skills.
1.13 Positional Categorization of Footballers

1) Categorization Method (Muti-Positional Role)

Multi-Positional Role (Free-Role, Overlapped Position) : Multi-Positional Role will be categorized in the position with most score by criteria as below
1.1) Frequency (60 %) : Determine frequency in any positional zone which players based on within his role.
1.2) Effectiveness (40 %) : Determine effectiveness in any position based on Table of Effectiveness as below;

In the final step, it will be compared total score between positions and the higher or highest points will be regarded as the best position.

2) Categorization Method (Versatile Player)

Players who played in several positions will be separately calculated in each position by descending accumulative method. The reduction of coefficient is set as following ;

2.1) Domestic Season : (n : 1 - 10) : 50 % Reduction : 1st : 1, (n > 10) : 75 % Reduction
2.2) International Club Tournament : % Reduction : Mitropa 70, Profession 50
N-Value : Mitropa Cup and Pre-1965 Copa Libertadores Cup (n=5)
Post-War European Club and Profession Post-1965 Copa Libertadores Cup (n =8)
2.3) International Country Tournament :  (n  = 3) : 8% Reduction
                                                        (n > 3) : 5 % Reduction per one increment of n-value

The position which obtain higher point will be considered as the best position.

3) Final Categorization Method

In case of the equalized result from 1) or 2), skill will be supported as a factor to determine fitness to which of position. As of Clause 1.9, Total Skill of a player will be calculated for the overlapped positions base on Proportional Criteria of Skills For Football Roles Table. The position which obtain higher total skill point will be considered as the best position of that player.
1.14 Managerial Performance Evaluation

1) Performance Identification & Classification :
The raw data of performance is considered by comparing to the previous club season based on the existed player resource. The gap of development/decline and state of performance are identified as the class.
2) Performance Unit : Because football is primarily aimed to win the trophy not to achieve the record, the performance is rated between 3 main competition levels mutually by one season not separate competition levels as following ; Domestic League 50 % Domestic Cup 15 % International Club 35 %

The pre-international club era without cup competition : Domestic League 75 %
The pre-international club era, Domestic League 57.5 %, Domestic Cup 22.5 %
The non-participation in international club, Domestic League 55 %, Domestic Cup 20 %
The non-participation in international club without cup competition : Domestic League 62.5 %

* Remark : Round Robin Coefficient in the table is used for he first class league and international tournament. If lower class, the point is reduced based case by case consideration.

3) Basic Calculation System : Arrange the performance value in ascending order and pair with the sequence coefficient respectively.
   The percentage of Coefficient reduction is directly varied based on participating amount in each case as below ;

One club season = 1 Partition
Dependent International Country : Qualifying round 0.5 Partition, Major Final Tournament 0.5 Partition.
Independent International Country Coefficient Table

                                                     International Country Partition Coefficient

*Remark : The partition coefficient of major international tournament will be reduced based on the significant limited potential of each team.

Calculation Formula ; Σ Partitioned Coefficient x Round Coefficient x Performance Class Coefficient
                                                                                  Total Partition

The formula is calculated separately between club and international country
Total Partition
           1)     Managers with absence of either competition level: 19
           2)     Managers with both club and international country appearances :
International Country part’s total partition = sum of independent international country
Dependent International Country + Club = 20;
If score of international country > score of club, total partition of international country remain the same value because they all are included in the part of total partition and is also considered as a higher level of competition. Total partition of club = 20 – DIC total partition
If score of international country < score of club, the 20 total partition is shared proportionally. The share ratio is calculated as Club total participating partition : DIC total partition
Then, DIC total partition is converted to IIC total partition based on its ratio.

Proportion of Competition Level

       1)  Club Managers without either of competitions appearance : 5 % give to the absent part without any point. The participation part is given by 95 %.

        2)    Managers with participation in both competitions : The ratio is calculated between participating partition between club and IIC.

4) Bonus Definition and Calculation System

4.1) Trophy : The trophy bonus is given based on standard of competition include status of double and triple champion.

4.2 ) Time to Success : It is used in club competition only.

The first phase :  The first 10 club seasons with the minimum class require is applied to manager career regardless of how many clubs they played.
The following phase : Based on first phase implementation by each competition, the second phase is started at the border at the first season of the new club after the end of phase I (at least six seasons if there is no higher available class than ordinary-world-class). Since the second phase, the phase is ended immediately when move to the club. Note that returning to the old club is not taken into account.

     4.3) Continuity of Higher Class

The condition allow managers who achieved higher profile than the three consecutive ordinary-world-class seasons by each competitions or international country qualifying + tournaments. The higher profile can be the same number as three but any season is achieved as a higher than ordary-world-class. The table is below will be multiplied with competition level ratio (league 0.50, cup 0.15, int club 0.35. For international country is considered as 25 %.

     4.4) Adaptability

It is definite as the achievement of higher class at least ordinary world-class in various circumstance by different club, league, nation or continent.

4.5.1) Manager who create the victory for the club/nation as one of the very most outstanding era in its history. It is considered in case by case.
4.5.2) Manager who is a pioneer of tactic or is an important developer of the tactic.

    4.6) Foundation

4.6.1) Players skill development includes ascended player from youth team or purchased young players
4.6.2) Immediate Impaction on the team achievement in the next era.

    4.7) Statistical Record
It is definite as the record within one competition such as most consecutive wins, most wins, unbeaten, highest goals difference, highest goals, lowest goal conceding, etc.

5) Conditional Margin

H1 : Club Mutual Highest Performance : Highest overall seasonal performance
H2 : Independent Highest Performance : Combination of highest performance score in each competition level
                                                            Domestic League 50 % Domestic Club 15 % International 35 %

(International includes both club and country)
L : Lower performance  : The amount of National Level and Regional Level against total amount based on competition level proportion. The deduction point is 1 and 2, respectively.

Lower Performance = Σ (Total Lower performance amount / Total participate Amount x Competition Level Ratio) (If total participate amount value in the system < 20, the deficit value is applied as the negative value minus to 100 % and then use this value multiple to above formula)

Conditional Margin = ((H1*0.35)+(H2*0.15)+(L*0.5))/10

6) Total Point = Basic Score + Bonus Score + Conditional Margin

7) Judgement for Equal Result

If the total point is not different > 0.2, Primary Judgement : Independent Highest Performance,
                                                       Secondary : Basic Score
Third : Lower Performance , Fourth : Trophy Bonus

1.15 Scoring and Conceding Statistical Analysis

Scoring (Striker)

Influential Factor Value = Individual Goals/Total Team Goals

Tactical Factor Value : two defenders system : 0.8, three defenders system : 0.9, four defenders system 1
Scoring Amount = (∑ (Coefficient of Opponent Defense/Coefficient of Team Offense) x Number of Scores)

Total ITS Value = Influential Factor Value x Tactical Factor Value x Scoring Amount

Conceding (Goakeeper)

Tactical Factor Value : two defenders system : 0.8, three defenders system : 0.9, four defenders system 1
Conceding Amount = (∑ Coefficient of Opponent Offense/Coefficient of Team Defense) x Number of Goal Conceding)
Coefficient of Team Defense = Defensive Factor x Possession Factor

Total DTC Value = 1/(Tactical Factor Value x Conceding Amount)

1.16 Historical Comparison Technique

The point to compare players in different era is the most controversial. This comparison would be struggle as long as players have not played under the same factors and standard in each era is much different. Comparison in one generation to next generation in chain would help to see overall picture in review of rating. Moreover, there are some possibility to rank player with giving a true level of competition to each standard. Then, Circumstantial Prevention is an answer of players comparison across era. It is one of the most important parts to definite all-time greatest footballers. Its result helps many legends in far past eras to be still regarded so high in history due to the fact that football skill and system spent several eras to reach its full potential of development. Example, Goalkeeper in the pre-war era never made emergency sweeper role, tactical strategy in defensive game has just played as important role of football in later eras. Accordingly, it is hard for Ricardo Zamora and Jose Nasazzi to be considered as the greatest player ever in their own position as example cases. In the first step, we could believe Marcel Desailly will be a greater defender than Nasazzi if he sit down Time Machine back to the pre-war era for example. But still, I don't rate Desailly in higher place than Nasazzi in history due to circumstantial prevention. Nasazzi was one of the best defenders in his time, could be believed that his potential is very high enough to be one of the best DFs in the modern era if he was fulfilled the same circumstance such as physical option by technology and training of tactical strategy.

2) Teams Series

Definition of Historical Rating of Teams
Determination of accumulative result in entire history of the team base on era standard and circumstance including historical value status.

2.1 Club Evaluation Criteria

      2.1.1 International Club
         1) Determine the winner of each annual continental competition by qualitative analysis. For the non-int-club era, the official friendly results are support to stipulate the value, if no enough record, performance of its national team are applied for consideration.
          2) Determine the competitive level by counting goal difference to calculate its average for each round and input by the following formula ;
         (∑ Goal Difference Average/(Number of Round x 4.5))
(Number of Round +((6-Number of round)/2))/6
The standard of competition (STD) = Top Level X Competitive Level
          3) The Status Performance (STS) = SQRT(TLS- (FTC – 1) x GS x STD
             Finished Round Coefficient (FRC) (Winner = 1, Runner-Up = 2, SF = 3, QF = 4, R16 = 5, R32 = 6, R64 = 7, R128 = 8)
             GS = Gap Standard = 0.65+(6- number of round)*0.05
             TLS = Top Level Standard (UCL/EC =5, UC = 4.5, CWC/ERP = 3.7)
        4) The Raw Direct Performance (RDRT) is calculated by chain of beaten from top level to the evaluated team. Being beaten 1 goal is equal to – 0.4. For group round format, the difference will be calculated based on following formula ;    ∑ ((DGD/N)*0.4)/Nq i
DGD : The descending goal difference
N : The number of matches
Nq : The number of qualified teams in the group

Then, the performance will be adjusted +0.75 and x 0.85 to give positive value for negative raw data.
         5) The total performance = SQRT(STS X ADRT)

    2.1.2 Domestic League
           1) Determine the raw direct performance (RDRT) by point and goal difference
         Point Ratio = ((Games win x 2.5) +(Games Draw x 1))/Number of Games
Goal Difference Ratio = Goal Difference/Number of Games
           RDRT = (Point Ratio x 0.75) +(Goal Difference Ratio x 0.25)
           2) Determine top level
2.1) Top Tier League : Referring to the best performance in international club (TEU) against the competitive level by the formula : PSTD (Primary Standard) = (TEU x (2 – Variance)/2)
2.2) The Second League : Implementing benchmark method by calculating the average place of the promoted teams between the previous season to the calculated season and to the next seasons. The obtained calculated finished place is applied to the table in the calculated season linked to its raw direct performance that is a top level. The decimal > 0.15 and < 0.85 of the finished place value is required to calculate for average value between places. The obtained value is acted as TRDP in clause 2.23
2.3) The Top Level Raw Direct performance (TRDP) is adjusted by + 0.75 x 1.5 to give positive value for negative raw data to be the top level adjusted direct performance (TADP)
2.4)  The top level performance (TLV) is the direct performance against primary standard
                TLV = TEU+((Y-(((-X2)/8)+(X/8)+5))/2) ; Y = TADP, X = PSTD
               2.5) Standard of League (STDL)
STDL = Top Level Performance x Competitive Level
           Competitive Level = (2-Sc)/2
            S1= Variance = ∑ (x1-µ)2/number of members ;
            x1 = point ratio (win = 2.5 point, draw 1 point)
            S2= Variance = ∑ (x2-µ)2/number of members ;
x2 = goal difference (Separate positive and negative µ value)
            Sc (Combined Varaince) = S1 (0.75) + S2 (0.25)
              2.5) Final Calculation
               Final Direct Performance (FDP) = (RDRT+0.75 x 1.5) x (TLV/TADP)
               Status Performance (STS) = SQRT[(5-(FP -1)*0.1) x STDL]for Top Flight
               SQRT[5-(N1-1)*0.1] x STDL1 - [SQRT[(5-(FP -1)*0.1) x STDL2] for 2nd Tier
N1 = Number of team in top fllight
               League Performance = SQRT[FDP x STS]
      2.1.3 Domestic Cup
Implement the same method as International club and the top level is determined from international club as well as the league competition. For tournament championship such as German Championship in pre-bundesliga era, it is implemented in the same concept as performance in knock-out tournament is used for identifying value of top level team.

      2.1.4 Final Calculation
Basic Proportional Weight : Domestic League 52 %, Domestic Cup 16 %, Int. Club 32 %    The performance is calculated in aggregate within a season not separated since the performance between competitions were a mutual dependent factors as football is purpose to mainly win the trophy not optimize the performance in any of competition level. As many of competitions are tournaments formats, it is implemented and calculated in aggregate mini-leagues method. For the season without domestic cup, basically the domestic league proportion is expanded to 60 % and increase more 16 % in non-international club era. Exceptionally the league proportion could be increased between 77 at minimum and 80 % at maximum by compensation from over number of participation (> 38 to 46 games per seasons).  However, if the obtained performance is a negative value, it is not applied to the system and equal to Zero. That mean the lowest value to apply for the system has been standardized.
To standardize the opportunity of international club participation. The standard value of league performance at 3.25 has been set. The clubs that achieved this value but not get the opportunity because its league is competitive, will be compensated the higher proportion for domestic competition by 50 %. In contrary, the clubs that got the opportunity to play in international club with less than 3.25 of league performance in the previous season will be deducted the entire seasonal int. club points that is less than 2.5 in the over-participated number
The obtained seasonal performance will be matched to multiply with proportional weight of the best 92 seasons whose number is an average of available league seasons for the 50 qualified teams and calculated the sum to obtain aggregate total.
The trophy bonus is designed in the following table.
The league trophy bonus is given for only the club achieved the highest league point among national leagues in each season. The winners in the periods of 1927 - 1932 (pre-professional era) and 1940 - 1946 (war-time) are given bonus in less value than normal period. The domestic cup is not applied as a single bonus as the continental international cup has represented the teams in elimination format. However, it is applied for double and triple trophies if the club won International competitions and also won domestic cup. The International bonus is applied only to the winners of Intercontinental Cup/World Club Cup in its existed years. For the year without World competition, the winner of Europe and Latin American share the bonus by half of each.

       2.1.5 The Decisive Factors
0.2 % is required as a minimum value to unanimously decide the rank. If not, consider if the comparison couple has the other seasons than average, if so, compare its other best season by one. 0.1 is a minimum value to beat, if not, consider another season until match the rule. In case of no other season, the peak season is a decisive value with a minimum 0.1 to significantly differentiate. If not, recomparing in the second peak season or more if necessary.

2.2 International Country Evaluation Criteria
     2.2.1 International Major Tournament
Aside from the actual participants in historical tournament, there are some additional participants in the expansive remodel of competition to standardize the opportune factor between era based on qualifying performance but the additional teams will be given the performance rating just 50 % in comparison to actual participant. The number of additional teams is considered from minimum standard value of qualifying performance and level of participants in qualification round in specific years. The finished round is extended to the existed round and is also based on the ranking of their raw direct performance.
             1) Determine the winner of each major international tournament by qualitative analysis.
           2) Determine the competitive level by counting goal difference to calculate its average for each round and input by the following formula ; (∑ Goal Difference Average/(Number of Round x 4.5))
(Number of Round +((5-Number of round)/2))/5
The standard of competition (STD) = Top Level X Competitive Level
            CC = Competition Coefficient (World Cup = 1.2, Continental Cup = 1.1)
            3) The Status Performance (STS) = SQRT(FRC x STD)
             Finished Round Coefficient (FRC) = TLSC – (1-GS)  ; (Winner = 1, Runner-Up = 2, SF = 3, QF = 4, R16 = 5, R32 = 6)
TLSC (Top Level Standard Coefficient) : World Cup =5, Euro/Copa Americas = 4.5, African Cup of Nations = 3.5, AFC Asian Cup = 3.2
GS (Gap Standard) = 0.85 (AFC Asian Cup), 0.8 (World Cup, African Cup of Nation), 0.78 (Europe, Americas). These value is from comparative experiment of average performance between World Cup and Continental Cup.
           4) The Raw Direct Performance (RDRT) is calculated by chain of beaten from top level to the evaluated team.
For elimination format, being beaten 1 goal is equal to – 0.35.
For league format, the difference will be calculated based on following formula ; ∑ ((DGD/N)*0.35)/Nq if number of team > 3
                      ∑ ((DGD*0.75/N)*0.3)/Nq if number of team = 3
DGD : The descending goal difference
N : The number of matches
Nq : The number of qualified teams in the group
            5) The total performance (TP) = SQRT(STS X RDRT)

*Remark : FIFA Confederation Cup is not considered.

     2.2.2 Qualification Round
          1) Determine top level in each group : the furthered best performer in major international tournament within a qualification group is set as the top level value in that group.
           2) In the pre-1960s, the performance in zonal competition are Central European International Cup, British Home Championship, Balkan Cup, Nordic Cup and Central American Cup could either replace the disappearance of any qualification tournament or combined with existed qualification performance by average if the zonal performance is higher.
           3) For the continental tournament without qualifying competition or not participate in qualifying round as a host or a provider, the performance in major tournament overs qualifying performance automatically.
           4) Calculate the raw direct performance in the same procedure as clause 1.5
           5) Final Calculation
To standardize the opportunity of continental tournament participation. The standard minimum value of continental performance at 4.75 (for Europe and Americas) and 4.5 (for Africa and Asia & Oceania) has been set. The less value than standard is excluded from calculation.
The obtained tournament performance partition (OPP) =∑ TP x PRT
             ; PRT = Periodical Ratio between Periodical Coefficients (4 years = 2, 3 years = 1.5, 2 years = 1. 1 year = 0.5)
OPP will be matched to multiply with proportional weight whose number is an average of available tournaments between continents.
Each sum of competitions’ performance are aggregated as a basic total score.
The trophy bonus is given for only the winner in World tournament and designed as following ; World Cup since 1934 : 3 point, 1930/1950 World Cup :2 point, 1920/1924 Olympic Games : 1 point, 1928 Olympic Games : 0.5 Point

        2.2.3 The Decisive Factors

0.1 % is required as a minimum value to unanimously decide the rank. If not, consider the aggregate peak value at 0.05 is a minimum value to significantly differentiate, if not, consider second peak partition or even more until match the rule.

2.3 All-Time Squad Potential Assessment

All-Time Squad potential assessment is the total calculation for all all-time squads in International and Continental Legendary Museum and All-Time World squad, is factored by total skill rating application of each of eleven first team players, reserved players and manager base on ;

1) Primary Proportional criteria of the role of each player that fit to the formation system

2) Secondary Proportional criteria of functional line in the formation system.

Hence, there is no exact format of proportion of multifunctional role and functional line as it is depend on the role of player in any system. Offensive sweeper, side-back, central midfielder, winger, trequartista and forward all are considered in this scope and contribute more than one functional line. It is 100 percent weight of rating for only one functional play, are Goalkeeper, pure defender, playmaker and target striker.

In a final calculation of total assessment, proportion of functional line will be 20 percent DF-27.5 Percent MF-20 percent FW-20 percent Manager-12.5 percent Substitution. In ranking of rating, XI rating is secondary comparison in case squad rating is not significant different. Midfield rating is a thirdly comparison in case XI rating is not significant different.  For only eleven players, proportion will be DF-30 Percent MF-40 percent FW-30 percent.

Nation Unification
For both player and team series, Grouping of nations base on following items in particular order ;

1) Football Activity  2) Geographic  3) Race All groups were set to fulfill every factor to be divisible proportion.

Players National Identification

Players who played more than one nation or play for a nation they did not born or growing up, is identified based on provided criteria.

Born-Nation (2 Point), Race (1 Point, it can split if any parent is a mixture), The growing nation (1 Point), the first capped nation (0.5 Point), the contribution to nation (5.5 point, depend on longevity and level of performance, 70 % score evaluation is eligible to obtain full 5.5 point.

* In case score is resulted in the same level (difference <0.2), performance in prime period is a decisive factor *The dependent nation in colonized era is considered 50%-50% between colonized nation and colonizing nation.

I don't understand the difference between prime and peak performance.

      Delete
    2. Peak is basically determined in one season but if player reach the same peak more consecutive seasons, peak period is expanded according to actual performance.
Prime is a wider period of upper performance part.
In example, Messi’s peak is 2012 while his prime has been performed since 2009 until present as he has long sustained his standard of top performance. 2008 is also considered as a world-class year but is not included in prime period because that season is significantly lower than his peak in 2012.

I understand, so where can i find prime list?

      Delete
    4. Because prime period of each player is basically different, I’d not make the ranking list.
But still, the most consecutive world-class performers is similar to the best prime.

Level of equity is very interesting but how will you manage the difference between the time when there was 2 points for a win and now when it's 3?

    1. I set 2.5 for all winning record.

For exapmle, last season some team had 10 wins and 4 draws, so you would calculate like the team had 29 points. Right?

  4. Dear, Readers

    Recently, I just finish the development of methodological managerial performance evaluation. It will help to rate managers in more effective ways with elimination of too advantage/disadvantage in team condition. I also have completed the designated format ;

The managers list is planned to implement the methodology after all players position will have been implemented.

When calculating standard of league, I understand level of equity but does Top Team Coefficient x Level of Equity mean this: spanish league has uefa coefficient 94.427 now and we multiply that number to level of equity?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No, I refer to coefficient likes Level I = 1, Level II = 1.2, Level III = 1.4 … which will be considered base on UEFA coefficient.

      Delete
    2. Anonymous3/10/2015

Can you please explain that? Does it mean that only one league can be in each level?

      Delete
    3. No, The standard of the league is determined season by season. At the first step, I set to define level of the top team (1st place) in any specific season. Level I is the highest level.
In example, the 2010 - 2011 Barcelona will be defined in level I as it is even one of the best seasonal domestic club performers ever. The 1992 - 1993 Man Utd would be obtained lower level (I consider it in level III).

    4. Note that UEFA Coefficient just identifies top teams performance in international club, is helpful in the first step of approximation of defining level (In example, when Italian League is now below top three in Europe without achievement of Italian club in European competition, Juventus will be defined below Level I definitely).

    6. Anonymous3/10/2015

So, you determine only the level of the teams who won the league?

      Delete
    7. Yes for the only first step, the champion or the first place is just the first stipulator and level of equity of overall league will be determined descend from the first place.

  6. Recently, I replaced the previous basic format coefficient table by the table of Maximum amount coefficient in both elimination and league format of international tournaments to conform with variety of number of teams participation and grouping format.

For the bonus point, when you say "< 20 Years old" you mean "20 years or younger" or "19 years or younger"? The same with "> 34 Years old".

    1. Even 19 years 364 days or 34 Years 1 day, player would receive the bonus.

How do you define each class (phenomenon, supreme world class, ordinary wc, supreme international, ordinary inter.)? I'm thinking about starting a project of my own (it would take a long time) so I'm interested how you choose where a player's season belongs and what each class represents?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Who are you ? I think definition is easy as the class is varied based on the range of rating likes 1 to 10 point.

    2. Anonymous3/13/2018

I was thinking like this, how many players each season generally reach these classes in domestic competitions for example? Anyway, I don't think I'll be doing anything serious, even if I do it will only be for myself. I am reading your blog and bigsoccer forum (without posting) from time to time and sometimes feel inspired to try something like this myself but I really don't have the patience to do this for such long time. It really makes me appreciate all the hard work you put into this. Keep up the great work of bringing football history closer to fans!
